@remember-thelight "Hey Mr. Betlach!

It's Kaycee, from AGES ago when you were my 7th? 8th? grade teacher. Y'know, back when you encouraged Vanessa, Cria-May, Jessica, and I to go to Andrew Hill for the IB program instead of going the usual route to Independence High. Because of your encouragement, I made one of the best decisions of my life. I loved Andrew Hill, the IB program, and everything that I learned both in and outside of the classroom in those four years. THANK YOU!

My brother mentioned that he saw you on the news (!!!), which led me here to your Tumblr, so CONGRATULATIONS! on coming so far in your professional career. I have yet to poke around more, so I'm sure that there is much, much more to congratulate you about, but I just wanted to say thank you again for taking the time (and caring about us enough) to push us towards IB.

Take care! :)"

So good to hear from you, Kaycee. And yes, AGES. For realz. How are you? What are you up to?

Thanks for saying nice things, but really, encouragement or not, YOU made the decision, and I’m just glad you feel it was a good one. Y’all were awesome kids and probably equally awesome adults. (Was that really nine years ago?) It was a privilege and a pleasure to be your teacher.

Gimme more — where have the years taken you?
